  5. Q: How should I configure QEMM-386 or DESQview 386 to run on my   
  6.    Toshiba 5100 (or 5200)?

  9. QEMM-386 can be used as an expanded memory manager on the Toshiba
  10. 5100 or 5200, but may require some changes in the default
  11. configuration of the Toshiba.
  12.  
  13. Under the default configuration, the Toshiba 5100 does not have
  14. any extended memory, but actually has expanded memory hardware
  15. and an expanded memory driver.  If your Toshiba's memory is
  16. configured as expanded, QEMM-386 will not see any extended memory
  17. to map and refuse to load, or will not work properly.
  18.  
  19. To set the machine up properly, run the Toshiba Setup utility and
  20. configure 640K of base memory and the rest of the memory as
  21. extended memory.  There should be no expanded memory configured.
  22.  
  23. Once the hardware has been set up so that all of the memory above
  24. 640K is extended memory, edit the CONFIG.SYS file on the machine
  25. and remove the expanded memory driver if one is being loaded. 
  26. This file will probably be called EMM.SYS or EMM386.SYS, but you
  27. may want to consult your Toshiba manual to be sure.

  29. After the expanded memory driver has been removed, you may run
  30. the QEMM- 386 Install program to install QEMM-386 and it should
  31. be able to operate properly on the machine for DESQview and other
  32. programs that might require EMS 4.0 memory.
